fun fact, a 2014 Ford Fiesta Titanium in very good condition has about the same trade in value per kbb as a 2009 SX4 with 40k more miles and equivalent options. She traded in an SX4 for that Fiesta about the same time my SX4 got totaled. She should have kept the SX4.

Before I bought my SX4 I did a fair bit of looking at all manufacturers options. I found that the Trax best suited what I wanted with a turbo 1.4L gas or diesel engine (not sure on the size of the coal-burner engine). That 1.4 engine made it in to a lot of GM variants so it's easy to find a replacement if it became necessary. The newer Equinox also came with a smaller 4 cylinder engine after 2010 (I believe) and mated to an 8 speed auto transmission, is amazing on fuel for the size of vehicle but still performs well in everyday driving. So far I haven't heard any horror stories about either.

I had totally forgotten about the SX4 until I saw one advertised. I hesitated about getting one because Suzuki left N.A. but gave it a chance and I'm glad I did. I am a little disappointed in fuel economy (I think the Trax is better) but not that disappointed.

An add to the post. I also looked at getting a Volvo XC wagon and would still consider buying one to save my SX4 from winter road rot.

Probably the Subaru crosstrek is the closest thing to my SX4 crossover on the market.
Best of all, they have manual transmissions available either 5 speed or 6 speed.
In 2012, the 6 speed manual was standard.

Ladies and Gents, for North America no GR Yaris but they will have a GR Corolla. 300hp, 273 torque same 1.6L 3 cyl turbo engine and 3 mode AWD system with optional Torsen diffs F&R.

Should be big $$$$$ but WOW, what a SX4 replacement this car will be. Check out vids on YT.

I have been watching the development of this car like a hawk. I just hope the new vehicle market is a little less crazy when it launches.

Doubtful, I plan to visit a Toyota dealer to inquire about it. Expecting to hear the usual BS. Limited model, waiting lists, dealer market adjusted pricing when the car is available FS blah blah blah.

Like they say, want to play get ready to pay or wait till you find a used one that most likely will be beat on and will still cost a ****load for a used car. Pick your poison.

I'm considering a 2023 Hyundai Kona N Line AWD as a replacement for my 2010 SX4 Sportback. I want something with similar dimensions but a bump in hp and tq. Would love a Kona N but the premium fuel requirement and the reduced fuel economy along with a lack of AWD are drawbacks. Thoughts?

I looked at the Kona N but the lack of AWD was a major drawback for me. I will have to check out the n-line. The Subaru crosstrek is a close comparison to the SX4. I'm probably getting a wrx to replace the ST which I sold a month ago though. The SX4 will continue daily driver duties for now.

The 2023 Dodge Hornet GT looks interesting with 265hp, nine-speed auto, AWD available.
