What's the best Sx4 to get

Looking to purchase a 4WD Sx4 (not S-cross) and wondering that is the best model and year to get. Must be 4WD and Automatic transmission, I also haven't seen any Diesel versions here either.

And is there much difference in performance between the 1.5 and 2 litre engines?

WHere's "here" ??? In NAmerica only the 2 litre exists.

COrrect me if I'm wrong but I do not think the 1.5/1.6 come with an automatic transmission.
The 2.0 comes as J20A from 2007-2009 and J20B from 2010-2013. Both engines are reliable, I prefer the J20B with VVT.
THe automatic is a conventional 4 speed to 2009, then based on North America, 2010 up is a CVT. If you intend to install a hitch and pull a trailer, I would not trust the CVT.
NorthAMerica models are Japan built with hydraulic power steering and Taiwan electrical setup(at least for Canada) . Other forum members know more what might be more relevant in NZ.

If its a JDM spec, there are also the 2.0l models available, just harder to find. Just look for the 2.0.
