    Shifting problems

My sx4 2011 is not shifting correctly like not shifting down into lower gear when slowing down. Is the transmission going?

Given your forum name CF7 has probably guessed correctly that you lived in the USA and replied accordingly. However, for your future posts or threads, it would be better that you fill up your profile/signature using the settings, so we know location (SX4s are not the same all over the world, different engines, trims...), all car details , trim, AWD?, mileage, so replies can be relevant and not wild guesses.

You need to check your fluids first.

Well... this is a continuously variable transmission, meaning it has no gears to shift in the traditional sense. I don't know much about the one that went into the Suzuki, but if it is like the other ones made by Nissan/Jatco, I think they are 2 speed transmissions with basically infinite ratios within each gear.

Imagine a snowmobile clutch with a chaincase with a high and low gear.

I would have to drive it to feel what it is or isn't doing. Also, in case you didn't know, any vehicle built in the last 15 years or so has an electronic throttle, meaning the engine computer controls how much throttle to give the engine. So, other things can go bad and cause such feeling of starting out in 2nd or 3rd gear.

From what we have collected across your posts, we face a 2011 SX4 hatchback with CVT and AWD, located in Sherrill NY (at 95000 miles) with the owner having a good sense of humour. Better write all of what is missing in your profile or signature by going to the USER CP so everyone knows in future posts and threads without asking each time. THis leads to relevant replies.
What happens if you flip it to manual mode and change "gears" by yourself ?
