    Driveshaft question

My 2009 SX4 hatch MTX has had a bad driveshaft for a little while now, and it's time to change it out.

I've looked everywhere and can't find the actual spec on the unit. One post I've found says that the driveshaft was the same across all years and transmissions. Is there any truth to this? There's a 2010 hatch with an auto trans, will that driveshaft be the same length as mine?

    Thanks!

Just curious, what exactly is bad about your driveshaft that the entire thing may need replacement?
    Is it just the u-joints?

Good to know every one of those answered my question.

Oh. Wait. They didn't. I had more questions because of what was posted in one of those.

    Thanks for the "help".

Yes, it's a bad ujoint. Just saw a driveshaft at the junk yard and wanted to know if I could use it.

I know if I bought more tools and paid a shop to balance it, I could fix it.

But I'm probably going to buy one with replaceable u-joints for $390 CAD.

That is why I suggested the search for the lot of threads on this matter . Several did change the supposed "non replaceable" u-joints, but you must find the right one (reported as non symetrical with reference to the right part number ). OF course, one has to be equipped and have the time for this, but it can mean saving several hundred $. YOU are the judge of the solution that best suits your case.
