I have posted this in the Technical Forum as well but thought that this might be better as most of the diesels are in Europe.

I have just been given an estimate of 850 to replace the timing belt and water pump on my 2011 SX4 (classic) 2 litre diesel, engine D20AA. This is from my local garage. I have a copy of the Autodata pages which show a time of 8.5 hours which includes the removal of the engine from beneath the car. It is stated in bold that timing belt replacement cannot be done with the engine in situ. I have 2 questions
1. Has anyone else had this experience?
2. Is there a workaround? If there is one then please let me know.
