Airbag sensor "extended warranty" is now an actual recall

Please avoid Alton-Blakley in Somerset, KY. After appointment setup (for both my and daughter's SX4), VIN numbers for parts order (seat for mine, parts for shifter lockout on her CVT), we drove 100 miles to the place. Neither parts had even been ordered (we learned after filtering through numerous lies). I was lucky that they had the seat in the correct color for another car and did my recall. A month later, I drove to Wallace in Johnson City, TN and they did the daughter's car. I just hope Alton Blakely ordered the parts finally and had to eat them!

Just had this done at dealer...they had me arrive at 8am and I didn't leave until several hours later. The part didn't calibrate? Eventually they said they took "someone else's" from a honda dealership nextdoor? They scratched up the plastic on the seat pretty good and left cables dangling and broken plastic hardware in the vehicle. My car passed the safetey checkup. Nobody noted the broken tail light. My SX4 Sport spoiler has a funny little insert. presumably for a curb sensor. It popped out so I inquired how much for a replacement? Answer $550 a whole new spoiler. All of the paper work was wrong with the exception of my name. My address, the odometer reading, my email. Their auto body quoted me $1500 for a door I just bought for $200. Whata scam.

I'm in for those changes. This is something that had crossed my mind. I was in anticipation of the particular way the sensor should operate.

What was your problem with the sensor?

I have a new to me 2007 that has the airbag light on. I do not believe the recall work was ever done. I would assume that it's out of warranty at this point, with Suzuki out of the country. Is there anything a person can do to fix this issue? Is it a safety issue? Is there some sort of DIY fix for the airbag?

The problem I'm having is not resetting the code. I can do that. My problem is that the hardware is still showing problems. I get b1312 which is related to sensor map performance. It has a couple of historical codes related to supply voltage and power source voltage as well. It looks like the sensor mat has failed, and should have been replaced under the warranty. Is there a way to repair the sensor mat, or to still obtain the replacement sensor mat it was available under warranty a few years ago?

Aha. I found the answer: There's an airbag sensor emulator that makes the car think there's someone sitting in the seat.

Probably a couple of resistors and a plug for $70 chipped, but I'm going to give it a try.

Well, I'm going to update this thread one more time. After putting in the two parts and verifying that I could get the airbag light to turn off, I got a postcard from Suzuki. Believe it or not, the recall is still active. I had to drive 240 miles round trip to get the parts installed, but they put in a new cushion. That's on my fourth-hand, 2007, 150,000 mile SX4 that I picked up for $1000.

I was surprised to learn that the dealerships are still doing this repair, but very happy to have that light on the dash turn off!!
