I know this is old. But the newer cluster will connect to the older connector. It's just sorta backwards. Nothing works when you hook it up though.

You need the pin out for both connectors.

Everything works, including the fuel consumption, temperature and AWD indications, i can also change from l/100km to km/l. the only problem which is actually my mistake i didn't know that the part no of the cluster for A/T transmission was different so i ordered for the manual one, so now i dont have selected gear status.
New type of cluster also has oil change interval information but for some reason this does not show any value, i will try to figure this out but this information could be coming from the ECU and may not be possible to make it work.

Below are some pics how its connected, the only cable coming from the car harness not connected is the GRAY one which is P/S status (my one has electric steering) and did not find such indication on the new type of cluster, if anyone knows more info on this pls advice.
Important note: there are 2 CAN BUS lines (2 pairs of RED and WHITE cables) these pairs have different twist rates, when soldering the new connector try to keep the same twist rate of each pair as this will prevent any interference on the cluster from any electrical noise.

any chance i can replace my 2007 sx4 instrument cluster for another brand's digital one? Or perhaps for the maruti instrument panel? (which looks a whole lot better). I have been looking online for a while (4 1/2 hours straight now) for aftermarket or anything but I have lucked out.

Beside the cluster + its connector, you will need some basic soldering skills and have available couple of heatshrink sleeves to make the job much cleaner, and always disconnect the car battery for such jobs.
I recommend to use some gas powered soldering iron instead the socket type as some of the cables go directly to ECM and you do not want to couple the pins from the ECM to your house ground line.
