I bought some metal strips today, got under the car to have a look and unfortunately it's too corroded where I would like to fasten the strips to the OE position so I did the next best thing.

Drilled some holes on the sides of the shield, got it in position and using a whole bunch of zipties got it pretty sturdy back in the proper spot wrapping the ties around the holes and gas tank straps. I'm keeping the header wrap on the exhaust pipe for now till I drive the car a bit. If the shield stays on decently I'll remove the wrap.
