I am looking for a new set of tires after my RRO lift. I have narrowed it down to three tires: the Cooper AT/3, the Yokohama AT-S, and the Hercules Terra Trac AT. All seem to have good reviews and people on here have ran the Yokohamas in the 215 70 16 size and liked them. The Cooper's are on sale right now with a $75 rebate. The discounttiredirect.com price (including the rebate) put's them a hair over $100 a piece and that includes shipping. I'm about to pop on them, but would really like to see if anyone on here has ran them in the 215 70 16 or any other size. Impression? Handling in snow and ice? Any rubbing? The coopers have the best warranty of the three, the deepest tread depth, and the highest snow/ice ratings, but first hand opinions mean a LOT as well. The sell ends 11/1 so I definately have some time to do some more research.

If anyone is interested in the details/appearance of the tire; here's a link:

Here's the link for the sale. they don't have the best price online but when you add in the free shipping and $75 off then there deal becomes the best:

Hey!
I don't think anyone on here has ran those tires, $100 a pop isn't bad at all for decent AT's. I would go for it for the fact that you'd be one of the first to run them on a SX4. I have BFG AT's, same size. I love these and have no rubbing issues. You will love the size difference from stock to these, lol. Soo much better, adds ground clearance too. Welcome to Team Lifted!

I figured there wouldn't be many on here that have ran them. They are a fairly new tire. I read some reviews over on some toyota, Jeep, and Nissan forums and they were all good. The only issue I saw was one guy was having a hard time balancing them, but it didn't seem to be a common issue. I get paid Tuesday so it looks like I will be the guniea pig on these. I will do a review once I have tested them in the snow and ice this winter.

HOLY HELL!!! I just clicked on the link I posted above and the $75 rebate is now $175 rebate but only through tomorrow. The total was $480 for all 4 tires including shipping. With the 2 rebates I'm now at $305 for my total. That is a CRAZY good deal. My order is already placed and I already filled out the rebate forms online.

Lol, that's certainly a deal...that will help when it comes time to mount/balance.

That's quite the deal.

I got my 215/75/15 sumitomo HTR A/T's for $220 shipped just because that company was getting rid of all of their Sumitomo stock. Hard to say no at $50 a tire.

They were delivered on Thursday of last week. I am very impressed with the tread depth. It was the deepest depth, longest warranty, and best reviews on the 4 tires I looked at. I don't have them mounted yet, but I can get a few pics of them tonight. I will post more pics once I get them mounted.

FINALLY!! I got my RRO 2" lift installed and got the Coopers mounted and balanced yesterday. My 4 hour install time I set aside turned into almost 9 hours due to a couple boneheaded moves on my part. I wont get into my stupidity on that one. I also had the allignment done after the install and new tires. I'm rather shocked at how quiet they are for being such an aggresive tire. So far I really like how they drive and look. By the time I got home from the allignment shop it was dark so I couldn't take pics and I will not get home from work until after dark tonight. Pics will have to wait until tomorrow when I get off work early.

Nice, congrats on getting the install finished. Looking forward to some pictures!

It's amazing how far tires have come even within the last few years. I remember back when you either had to pick a strictly on-road tire or an off-road tire and just had to deal with horrendous road noise on the highway. Now you can get a mud tire like BFG KM2's that are almost as quiet as any other road tire.

Here's some pics. The first two are the day I brought it home when it was stock. Was a crappy 6 hour drive back from Phoenix but worth it. The rest are from about 15 minutes ago. The last one is showing my RRO skid plate. It's filthy (minus the part I wipped off when I changed the oil yesterday). I have been too busy to deal with cleaning the car so it's not spotless.

I forgot to add; the shocks I installed are awesome. I replaced the rears with those Toyota Echo rear shocks that I got off rockauto.com and they made a HUGE improvement. I no longer bottom out the rearend over every speed bump. With the 2" lift and larger tires it finally looks like a compact SUV and not a car. Really looks factory and I'm surprised that didn't come this way from the factory. I'm very happy with the lift and tires.

Looks good man, did you trip on the door still your first time getting in after the install? I did. :)

Not so much. This is still my little car. My other car is a built FJ80 on 37's with a 6" lift and my two cars before the 80 were Jeeps on 37's or larger. I used to kinda fall into the SX4 forgetting how low it was. Now the height is perfect. I just sit into the car. I don't have to squat down or bend way over to get in. It's just a much better fit at 6'2". I wish I would have added the lift and shocks a lot sooner.

Looks good! First mod everyone should do when installing a lift kit and bigger tires are wheel spacers.

I love just being able to slide into my car not instead of plopping down. I always liked having to climb down into my slammed 850R, but it got old pretty quickly.

Lol, I hear that.
I suppose I was just so used to stock height that when I lifted it it was very noticeable.
(I didn't lift my SX4 till 2 years of having it stock).

So whats next on your mod list?

Fog lights and a roof rack are the final two pieces of the build. The rest of my mod money goes to the FJ80 and rock crawlin. Right now my attention is on finding a new ac vent/bezel for the driver side just to the left of the steering wheel. Mine shattered yesterday and I can't find that part online. My local dealer want $39 plus tax for the 5 cent plastic piece; which is insane. I need to find a junked SX4 that's being parted out.

What was the part number or exact make year and model for your new rear shocks (Toyota echo)?

Did you use the shock mount relocation bracket that comes with the lift kit?

How well do they fit?
