It looks like Fiat is actively looking to partner with an Asian manufacturer, and all signs are pointing to either Suzuki or Mazda.

Mazda is prepping for a big loss this year and needs a partner.

Suzuki and Fiat already have an agreement with the Sedici and diesel engines.

Which do you think is more likely?

Sedici is history, but Mazda is partly owned by Ford and AFAIK Fiat has no ties with Ford whatsoever.

Mazda has nothing to offer Fiat.

I think VW will vote down any serious partnership talks between Suzuki and Fiat. Remember thar VW owns 19.9% of Suzuki stock so they have a significant voice and decision making powers. I bet Fiat partners with Mazda and starts offering the new skyactiv engines next year. Just my 2 cents....

Just makes sense they will continue with Suzuki because they already have a relationship with them...but who knows.

That's my guess, too. I've already heard talks of Mazda licensing out its SKYACTIC tech. We'll see.

I like the analogy that John McElroy said tonight on "Autoline Daily": "Suzuki wants a divorce so bad from Volkswagen that its publically throwing pots, pans, and dishes at the German automaker"!:hi:

This what Tammy (I mean Suzuki) wants:

I think FIAT would be more than happy to continue with and expand their work with Suzuki, but VW will not let them. I think in the end FIAT will work with Mazda due to litigation concerns.

Well, it looks like Fiat is partnering with Mazda, at least on some sort of roadster.

I love Audi's, Porsche's, and VW cars BUT I HATE VW management! Just sell the Suzuki shares back to Suzuki and walk away with cash in your pocket. This is the reason why I quit working for big corporations and opened my own company. Don't have to deal with stupid arrogant board of directors who have no real benefit.

Wait, I have my own management team and board to deal with!! Hahahahahaha! At least I can hire, fire, and cancel contracts whenever it is detrimental to my company.
